In 1773, American colonists held a protest against the tea tax imposed by Great Britain. This event went down in history as the Boston Tea Party.
As part of the protest action, citizens dressed up as Indians and destroyed an entire tea cargo of the English East India Company, which was located on a ship in Boston Harbor. This event is extremely symbolic for American history, because it was the beginning of the American Revolution. Thanks to this, the company was able to sell tea at half the price compared to its early cost and much cheaper than offers from local tea merchants and even smugglers. Of course, this state of affairs led to the resentment and dissent of the wealthy smugglers and many colonists, causing a protest.
