Pu-erh tea and its properties

Pu-erh tea is a large-leaf tea with a rather unusual taste. This type of tea is referred to as black, blue, and in some cases is isolated into a separate species.

Historical information about the ancient drink dates back to the Chinese Ming Dynasty, whose reign was marked by the XIV century. Since that time, the medicinal properties of tea have been discovered. The small town of Puer is located in the central part of the Yunnan province, from where tea is transported throughout China. It is known that Pu-erh is produced from Yunnan loose leaf tea, the degree of fermentation of which, as a rule, is 60-65%.

Outside of China, tea is little known. Manufacturing technology is a closely guarded secret from foreigners. Pu-erh tea leaves are distinguished by their rather large size, rich dark brown color and a specific smell of smoke. The brewing technology provides for the presence of hot water at a temperature of 90-95 degrees, the duration is 3-5 minutes. The color of well-infused tea is dark, rich red-brown or hazel.

Pu-erh tea is known worldwide for its medicinal properties. Recommended for use in diseases of the digestive system, frequent bowel disorders and high cholesterol levels.

To date, Pu-erh is distributed in Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong. The reason for the slow penetration of tea into international markets is its inherent mustiness and moldiness. This reason is sufficient weight for the right to refuse importation into the world markets of many countries. It is worth noting that Chinese importers, in turn, constantly prove the intentional identification of such specific properties, which is typical only for this tea drink. In the process of tea production, the raw materials of the plant are fermented with the introduction of a certain type of bacteria, followed by a repeated fermentation process, which gives the drink a specific taste.

When drinking fresh Puerh, the moldy taste is felt most strongly, and a little later it becomes softer. Surprising is the fact that tea can be stored for up to fifty years, which is reflected in the cost of such a drink. The taste of properly brewed tea is rich with a low caffeine content. During the production process, Pu-erh tea is produced both loose and pressed.
